Toastitarians,
Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization which gives its members the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking abilities through local club meetings, training seminars and speech contests. Toastmasters International includes more than 199,000 men and women in more than 9,300 clubs in more than 70 countries.
Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike can benefit from our practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers, your co-workers or your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you areto become better communicators.
At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. Our TOASTITARIANS club is made up of 20 or so people who meet twice a month for about two hours. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation.
Toastitarians, the only Rochester, NY area club meeting on Sundays, is a relaxed and welcoming group. In this comfortable atmosphere we provide the opportunity for members to speak in a safe and supportive environment. Members make their own choices as to when they will speak, and over time even the most nervous "newbies" seem to lose the fear of public speaking, and to learn skills that help them to be more successful in whatever path they've chosen.
At each meeting, some members give speeches, some take on leadership roles, some offer constructive feedback to the speakers. The goal, without pressure, is to encourage people to become better communicators, and in the process to become more effective both as leaders and in their personal lives. Members also have the opportunity to participate at the regional and national levels as officers or speakers. Locally members can work with other Toastmaster members in projects that go into the schools to help students learn to improve their speaking ability.
At whatever level you want to participate, Toastitarians has a place for you!
